Great! But . . . what does that mean?
First, it means you aren't a quitter. Yellow belt (and purple belt) have the highest quit rates.
Second, it means it's time for sparring!
To advance in rank, you are required to participate in sparring. Sparring classes for camo belts and up are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:15 p.m.
Appropriate sparring gear is also required. You can get this from friends, on eBay and sometimes in second-hand shops. We also have a bin with sparring gear for our students to use. If you make use of the equipment in the bin, please be sure to clean it properly before and after you use it, and don't forget to put it back in the bin!
If you are going to participate in tournaments, you must have ATA gear. Color belt students wear red sparring gear. Color belt students who are in the Leadership Program may wear black sparring gear, but it is not required. Black Belts must wear black sparring gear.
The required sparring gear, and the cost if purchased in our Pro Shop, is as follows:
|Mouth Guard and Case||$7.00|
In addition, a face shield ($60.00) is recommended for class and required for tournament competition. Boys are required to wear a cup, both in class and at tournaments. You also need a gear bag of your choice. Shin and forearm pads are optional.
